Colonoscopy
We get it – it’s tough to make time for an appointment. But regular check-ups with your healthcare provider are essential for managing your health. Most men report only visiting a healthcare professional when they feel sick, but many of the serious conditions that affect men don’t show symptoms early on. By scheduling a yearly wellness exam, you can catch issues like heart disease and cancer while there’s still time to act. This month, schedule that health check-up you’ve been putting off, and ask your provider if it’s time for a colonoscopy, prostate exam, or heart or diabetes screening.
Electrocardiogram
Once your physician has scheduled your surgery, patients will be contacted by the admissions department to begin the pre-registration process. Approximately one week before surgery, patients will receive a phone call from one of our highly skilled pre-operative nurses. They will gather your medical and surgical history and get a list of your medications. All completed pre-operative testing, such as lab tests or EKG, will be reviewed. Patients will also be given instructions on what to do the day of surgery including when to arrive and where to report. The nurse will review what to expect both before surgery and after your procedure.
Diarrhea
Immunizations
The U.S. vaccine safety system ensures that all vaccines are as safe as possible. Today, more than 200 million people in the U.S. have received at least one dose of the vaccine and experienced only minimal side effects, further underscoring the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines. Despite what the vaccine project name may suggest, “Operation Warp Speed” does not mean that manufacturers were able to skip steps or cut corners in the vaccine development process. Instead, after development of the vaccine, manufacturers took a secured risk and overlapped the study, manufacturing and distribution phases. The FDA committed to giving these vaccinations priority (not rushed) review at all phases of the studies, which helped speed up the overall process. Ongoing monitoring of vaccine effectiveness and side effect reports will continue to be evaluated by the FDA and the manufacturers.

Mental Health
What explains this health gap? Much of this difference comes down to how we think about our health, and how we take care of our bodies and minds. There’s a common perception that women worry about their health more than men, and studies show this to be true: in 2021, men were less likely than women to have visited a doctor within the past year, and were almost half as likely to have sought out mental health services, leading to higher rates of suicide. Men maintain less healthy diets and suffer more frequently from heart disease.
