Commonwealth Tax

Visited the office back in 2011 and was not thrilled with the service I received. After switching to another preparer, a friend encouraged me to give Commonwealth Tax another try as they changed ownership. Let me just say...what a difference that made! The new office was very professional and my preparer was extremely knowledgeable! I am a very satisfied client and highly recommend this group of pros!

I had a 12:30 appointment and stood by the front desk for over fifteen minutes while the lady who was behind the glass (Nancy) was working with someone. She could see me, but didn't acknowledge me in any way. And when I say 15 minutes, I'm not exaggerating. It was actually a little more.



I told the man who did my taxes (Bob) that I didn't have anything to claim for my personal business. I told him that twice. He kept calling me and leaving me messages though. He also called my wife which I didn't like. Finally, after his third time pressing me and saying "can't you think of anything we could write off?", I remembered I renewed by domain name for my website, which wasn't much at all. I still would have preferred not to charge it towards a business cost, but he insisted anything is better than nothing. So, I let him write that off. When he charged me for my taxes, I found out that one little write-off was worth roughly $130 he could now charge me for doing my taxes. The amount written off was so small, it did almost nothing to get me more money, and it probably took him 5 minutes to do. I see now why he was so insistent on getting my personal business as a write-off.



I did not appreciate the sarcasm from him either. "I knew you'd show up just as I start my lunch". Just unprofessional. Here are people who don't enjoy their jobs and have a negative outlook on life. Otherwise, I'm sure they are great and friendly people.



After two years of going to these people, I'm afraid I'll have to go somewhere else next year, along with the people I've referred to this company.

Very unprofessional company. Could not get any straight answers no matter how simple the question. That is only if you could get them on the phone. The office hours claim they open at 8 but no one is in the office till at least 11 in tax season. Did not tell me the fee until my taxes where in and charged me almost 250 for poor customer service and blaming me for they're mistakes. They had to refile my taxes after they where sent back for them making a clerical error in my social security number. Called to let me know it was my fault for not catching it before it was sent out. I would recommend to anyone if you want sanity and piece of mind while doing your taxes stay very far away from this company.
