The Windsor Animal Clinic offers a complete dental cleaning program. During a routine dental cleaning, your pet will be placed under anesthesia. Your pet's teeth will be scaled with an ultrasonic scaler, removing all of the tarter and plaque, and then polished. A veterinarian will then examine your pet's teeth and oral cavity. Dental polish is then applied giving your pet a nice bright smile with white glistening teeth. The veterinarian and staff will then instruct you on how to best care for your pet's teeth at home.

Vaccination
Vaccination and wellness exams for your pets are important in preventing infectious diseases that not only can make them sick, but can be fatal. Puppies and kittens are most susceptible and need a series of vaccinations between 6-16 weeks of age.

We welcome your dogs and cats. Puppies and kittens get special treatment with gentle wellness exams and health care packages to give them the best possible start in life. Core vaccines are considered vital to all pets based on risk of exposure, severity of disease or transmissibility to humans. For Dogs: Vaccines for canine parvovirus, distemper, canine hepatitis and rabies are considered core vaccines. Non-Core vaccines are given totally based on risk of exposure and include, Bordetella and Parainfluenza for Kennel Cough, Influenza, and Lyme.

Periodontal Disease Treatment
Good dental care is about more than just keeping your pet's teeth and mouth clean and healthy. Without proper dental care, your pet could face periodontal disease, gingivitis and the dental problems, which can be very painful. Periodontal disease is the build up of plaque and bacteria on the teeth and gums. This can lead to more serious health problems, including damage to the liver, heart, kidneys and other organs. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings are vital to your pet's overall health!

Procedures that we commonly do are spays and castrations, dental surgeries-tumors and dental extractions, surgical oncology (tumors), ophthalmic surgery including enucleations (eyeball removal)-entropion surgery-eyelid tumor removal-cherry eye surgery, Caesarean sections, cystotomies (opening the bladder) and removing bladder stones, wound repair, lacerations, abscesses, and foreign body removal of the gastro-intestinal tract.

Veterinary surgery is performed on animals and while we are a general surgery clinic we perform mostly soft tissue procedures, some orthopedics (bones) and numerous neuterings. Our small animal clinic offers mostly elective surgical procedures that are planned in advance.
Spaying and Neutering
One of the most elective surgical procedures in animals are those that render animals incapable of reproducing. These are more commonly known as spay and neuter. By far neutering which comprises spays and castrations are the most commonly done procedures performed in our surgery suite on small animals.

Laboratory Services
A wellness exam is an overall health assessment that may include blood tests, urinalysis, and parasite screening. A wellness exam is recommended for most pets at least annually. A wellness exam can help ensure your pet's health and detect early stages of disease.
Microchipping
Losing your pet can be a traumatic and even tragic event. Conscientious pet guardians protect their pets with collars and ID tags. Unfortunately, these are not foolproof and dogs and cats can still get lost. Collars can break or fall-off, leaving your beloved pet among the countless, unidentified lost strays at animal shelters. As a veterinarian I have seen this happen numerous times and the solution is simple, Microchipping.
